* Kata practice is by invitation only to Obukan Judo Dojo members who are studying kata. This is an open practice and anyone can come and watch at no charge.

New Students
Classes for new students start on the first Tuesday and Thursday of every month. They are held in the same practice facility, Peninsular Community Center, and at the same time as regular classes. . This way we can provide the personalized instruction folks need to knock the rust off old skills or learn new ones. There is no pre set time limit for students to practice before they are promoted to regular classes. But we insist that they learn the basics of falling and of some basic throws. in this way when a student joins the larger group he or she will be better able to absorb what is being taught. Before students are moved to the regular class we hold a ceremony in which they demonstrate what they have learned in front of the whole club. Beginners handbooks will be available soon. There is not extra charge for this personalized instruction.
Come by and Watch
If you are interested in judo and thinking about joining, please come by and watch our workouts. There is no charge to watch and there is always room. Please note that we work out in a gymnasium and it is often cold in the winter and warm in the summer. You might want to dress with that in mind.
