From 1942 on this was home for Jim S. Onchi's wife Fumico and their family while Jim and our Americans of Japanese Ancestry put their lives on the line during World War II. Not the picket fence with the wife, kids and dogs waiting for Dad to come home is it? Very few American back yards had the barbed wire and guard towers furnished to the Onchi family. But, the pictures on this page are glimpses of the experiences that made the Onchi's who they are today -- wonderful Americans who have spent a lifetime making our country better. While some may disagree with Jim, none of us can duplicate the life experiences that made him who he is today -- a Judo man honored by both the United States and Japanese governments alike. |
